I want to thank you for entering the Panther Invitational! I am looking forward to a great day of competition that it will be a rewarding experience for your Cross Country Teams. This packet should cover any questions you have about race day.

I have divided up the races below as best possible. If you would like to change categories please email me. These are not set in stone. I am flexible.

Race Designations:

Varsity A Race Girls - Bruton, Frederick, Grafton, Kellam, New Kent, Tabb, Sherando, Tallwood, Warhill (1) (10 Teams)

Varsity A Race Boys - Frederick, Grafton, Kellam, New Kent, Tabb, Sherando, Tallwood and York (9 Teams)

Varsity B Race Girls - Armstrong, Summit Christian Academy, Deep Creek, Granby, Norfolk Christian, Maury, Bruton B, Sherando B and York, Warhill (1) (9 Teams)

Varsity B Race Boys - Armstrong, Bruton, Summit Christian Academy, Deep Creek, Granby, Norfolk Christian, Maury, Bruton B, Sherando B, and Warhill

JV Boys Race All additional athletes

JV Girls Race All additional athletes

Race Packet Pick up: Race packets will be available by 7:30 AM next to the starting line. They will include all bib numbers, pins, and roster of bib assignment for your athletes. On race day you may choose whoever you want to run in each race as long as the meet the criteria for the race and your teams are designated to run in that race.

If you are missing a number please pick up additional numbers at the tables next to the starting line and make sure you write down all information on the race bib. I will enter the info manually after the race.

Payment must be received no later than race day.

Directions to Eastern State:

From the North/West: Take I-64 East to Lightfoot Exit 234 (Route 199 East). At top of exit ramp, take a right onto Route 199 East. Stay on 199 East until the Longhill Road exit. Exit at Longhill Road. At the top of the exit ramp, take a left at the light onto Longhill Road. CONTINUE STRAIGHT, do NOT turn left when the road curves. At the next stoplight, take a right into Eastern State Hospital. Take a right at Ashbury Road. Follow Ashbury to the intersection with Foster Road. General parking is on the right of this intersection. For teams and event staff, take a left on Foster and a right on Moncure. Follow to team parking at lot at end of road.

From the South/East: Take I-64 West to Exit 242A (Route 199 West). Follow 199 through five stoplights. After the fifth light, take the next exit, Monticello Avenue. Bear right on the exit ramp and merge onto Monticello Avenue. Continue straight through four stoplights, and turn left at the fifth stoplight onto Ironbound Road. Continuing through the first stoplight, turn left at the second stoplight into Eastern State Hospital (Plumeri Park Baseball Stadium is on the far right corner of the intersection). Take a right at Ashbury Road. Follow Ashbury to the intersection with Foster Road. General parking is on the right of this intersection. For teams and event staff, take a left on Foster and a right on Moncure. Follow to team parking at lot at end of road.

Spectator Parking and bus parking: Adjacent to building 24/25/26 and the laundry building. See attached map for additional information.

Concessions: Will be sold near the finish line.

Trainer: Trainer will be located under the large tee line next to the finish line. If you have a medical emergency please call 911 and then the Meet Director Mark Tompkins at 757 784-2281.

Water: Water will be available for athletes after exiting the finish line chute.

T-Shirt: The Panther 2011 XC T-shirt is available for $20.00 and is a very nice synthetic green shirt. We only have 40 available with sizes from small to large. If you would like to preorder them please email me and I will reserve them for your team. Please see the attached design.

Timing: Results will be emailed out by Saturday evening to all coaches and Hampton Roads sports writers.
Results will also be emailed to Milestat.com by Saturday evening.

Restrooms: There will be 3 porta-potties near the start for athletes and spectators. Additional restrooms
are located in a small building adjacent to the A frame below the pool adjacent to the starting area.

Awards: Top 2 teams in the Varsity Divisions races will receive plaques. The top 25 athletes in each Varsity race will receive a medal with a key chain The top 10 JV athletes will receive medals with a key chain. The top 5 athletes in the Varsity Boys and Girls races will receive a Brooks spike bag.

Weather: Current forecast is a low of 53 degrees and a high 69 degrees this upcoming Saturday.

2nd Annual Panther Cross Country Invitational Meethosted by Bruton High School Saturday, October 1, 2011

The Panther Relays will now be held at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, VA.

New Quarter Park is currently closed to due damage from Hurricane Irene.

Santioned by VHSL for Virginia schools and Maryland schools.

All Category III Private schools will have to participate in
the Varsity A race due to Maryland santioning rules.

Busch Garden 1 day passes will be eligible for purchase for a discounted rate of $39.95 two weeks prior to the race. These will be one day passes for any participants in the Panther Invitational.

Payment will secure entry into meet. Payment must be received before athletes will be allowed to compete. Payments can be made on race day.

Cost is $6.00 for athlete with maximum cost of $250.00 for a complete Varsity and JV Boys and Girls Teams.

Varsity runners: grades 9-12. Maximum of 12 runners per team in all varsity races.

JV runners: grades 8-10 graders . Unlimited entries in JV races.

Teams may enter 1 Team in the Varsity A Race and an additional team in the Varsity B race.
A Race is geared towards faster teams.
B Race is geared towards less advanced teams.

Course Map: Will be updated shortly.

The 5000M course is located at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, VA. The course is mainly gravel. Small spikes can be worn.

Timing: Will be completed using 2 Lap tops using Race Tab and pull tags. 2 print back up timers will be used. Finish line will be filmed as final back up for timing.
