1A Boys 3200
Unlike indoor state meet when these guys raced at the state meet in the 3200, both Smithsburg junior Will Merritt and Fairmont Heights senior Anthony Glasgow should be a lot fresher with only likely a 4x800 earlier in the day under their legs. Merritt has rolled to three state titles in junior year including a cross country title as well as 1600/3200 double wins indoors.
His season best time of 9:36 from the Washington County Championships puts him 19 seconds faster than Glasgow's 9:55 season best in a runner-up finish at the Prince George's County Championships. Glasgow has some leg speed with 1:56 PR in the open 800, so it might be best for Merritt to set an honest pace early on.
Other runners to watch in this one include a trio of sophomores in Bohemia Manor's Grant Franceschina (10:07 SB), Southern Garrett's Declan Horner (10:17), and Boonsboro's Ben Hartings (10:18). We will see all racing thru the 2018 MPSSAA State Outdoor Championships in two years.
