85 minute long run

Hi everyone! Saturday I had the great opportunity to run with some college athletes from a small college in Minnesota. We ran on some trails in Bethesda and it was a lot of fun! After we finished we got ice cream which was... well... Cool. Monday I felt pretty good and it was uneventful. Tuesday was absolutely AMAZING. At my school, the soccer teams run the Cooper test during try outs - they have to see how many laps they can run on the track in 12 minutes. I was allowed to pace one of the groups tests as part of my tempo with some of the boys cross country team! It was so much fun and I had my best tempo of the summer! Then on Wednesday, we had our first official practice - it was so nice to see all of the girls again. Thursday was uneventful but then on Friday I had to cut my run short. The weather wasn't cooperating so we ended up going inside and weightlifting after trying to run. I didn't have a chance to finish my run later unfortunately. Saturday. The heat index said it felt over 100 degrees. I ran 85 minutes and 10 miles. My dad made me stop and check in every 20 minutes to make sure I hadn't collapsed on a road somewhere. I have never thought I could run well in the heat so it was really empowering running 10 miles in heat that caused practice to be canceled (even if it wasn't the safest thing to do). That's it for now, stay hydrated and be smart when you run! Talk to you later!
