Summer Training Blog: Courtney Mann (Entry #3)

Entry #1 July 18-24

Here is this week's entry!

Monday, July 18:

All summer, Mondays have been long run days. Today I ran eight miles at a comfortable 8:10 pace in the evening to start off my week.

Tuesday, July 19:

Every Tuesday so far has been a tempo day. I did a two mile tempo run at 6:50 pace in between a five mile run. Although it was really hot for a morning run, I felt really good during and after this workout. Later that evening I lifted leg weights.

Wednesday, July 20:

Wednesdays are trail runs at Rockburn Branch Park. I recommend running here because there are a lot of different trails to run on and they're all great for cross-country training. Today I ran 5.5 miles.

Thursday, July 21:

I normally try to take Thursdays as my recovery run, so in the morning I did an easy five miles around my neighborhood at 8:00 pace. Later that evening I lifted arm weights.

Friday, July 22:

At the end of the week, I always do a small speed workout after a five mile run. Today I ran six 200s on a track at a repetition pace based off of my 5K PR with a 200 meter jog recovery in between each one. Later that evening I lifted leg weights again.

Saturday, July 23:

Today I topped off my week with a six mile run at a comfortable 8:15 pace around my neighborhood this morning. It was very hot and humid, but overall I felt pretty good.

Sunday, July 24:

Sundays are normally my off days, so today I didn't run.

Week total: 36.5 miles
