Summer Training Blog: Courtney Mann (Entry #3)

Entry #2 July 25th-July 31st

Monday, July 25th-  I did not want to play around with the 95 degree temperature today, so instead of doing my normal eight mile run, I ran six miles at a fairly comfortable 7:40 pace in the evening.

Tuesday, July 26th- Tempo Tuesday! I did a 2.5 mile tempo run at around 6:55 pace in between 5.5 miles this evening.  Today felt a little bit harder compared to my other tempo workouts, but that's because I lifted leg weights about 45 minutes before I ran.

Wednesday, July 27th- I took today as a recovery run and ran an easy five miles at around 8:35 pace in the morning on the trails at Rockburn Branch Park.  I was feeling a little tired from my tempo run the day before, but I knew that running at a slower pace today would help my legs out for the rest of the week.

Thursday, July 28th- Since I didn't get to run a long run on Monday, I decided to do my normal eight miles this morning at around8:10 pace in my neighborhood.  Overall I felt pretty good during this run, especially since the temperature for once didn't feel like 100 degrees.  Later that evening I lifted arm weights.

Friday, July 29th- After running 5 miles at around 8:00 pace, I did my end of the week workout by running 4x400s at a repetition pace based off of my 5k PR with a 400m jog recovery in between each 400.  Later that evening I lifted leg weights.

Saturday, July 30th- I decided to switch my off day to today instead of Sunday.

Sunday, July 31st- Although technically Sunday is the first day of the week, I like to look at it as either my off day, or a light run day to wrap up my week of running. Since I took off yesterday, I ran five miles in the morning around my neighborhood at a comfortable8:05 pace.

Week total: 36.5 miles
