Entry #3: August 1-7
My teammates Emily Hawkins, Emily Magoon, and I attempting to jump after our long run on Monday.
Week total: 39 miles
Monday, August 1st- Today I ran 8 miles with my teammate Emily Hawkins at around 8:00 pace. We both felt really good during this run, making it really easy to keep a consistent pace.
Tuesday, August 2nd- This morning I ran my weekly tempo workout. I did 2.5 miles at tempo pace in between a 6 mile run at Centennial High School on our county championship course. Considering it's a hilly and all grass course, I surprisingly felt really good the first mile and ran at around 6:48 pace. Unfortunately the hills eventually caught up to me, causing the last 1.5 miles of my tempo to slow down to 7:05 pace. Overall the workout went really well! That evening I lifted leg weights.
Wednesday, August 3rd- I used today as a recovery run and ran an easy 5.5 miles at around 8:25 pace. I felt really good this morning while running on some of the trails at Rockburn Branch Park. Later that day I left to go to Bethany Beach with my family.
Thursday, August 4th- Today was my first day running at Bethany Beach. I ran an easy 5.5 miles at 8:10 pace. Considering the terrain by the beach is relatively flat, my run today felt very easy and comfortable. Later that evening I lifted arm weights.
Friday, August 5th- This morning I went on a 16 mile bike ride through Rehoboth Beach so I decided to use that as my workout for today instead of running.
Saturday, August 6th- Today I ran 5 miles at around 8:10 pace followed by a speed workout. I did 2x200s with a 200 jog recovery in between each one, 2x600s with a 600 jog recovery in between each one, and 2x400s with a 400 jog in between each one. Running intervals is always a little difficult when it's on pavement, but overall I felt pretty good.
Sunday, August 7th- Since I didn't run Friday, I decided to run 6 miles at around 8:15 pace this morning. I took today at a very comfortable pace to start getting ready for time trials on Wednesday.
