Carroll County Virtual Meet Preview: Winters Mill, Century Girls Set For Another Close Matchup

Last year the Westminster boys dashed Liberty's hopes for a three-peat at the Carroll County Championships, but Nick Tilson and the Liberty boys are in a prime position to start a new streak this season. Standing in their way will be their hometown rivals at Century. The two schools are separated by just three miles and the two teams have grown even closer this season. At races in which both teams ran their full varsity teams they are 1-1 against each other; Century dominated the first matchup at the Mountain Run Invitational but Liberty got revenge on their home course at the Crossfire Invitational.

Nick Tilson is the favorite for Thursday's race after finishing second last season. Along with Daniel Saxon, John Lemaster and Andrew Miner they feature one of the strongest teams in the 2A classification. Meanwhile the Century boys are led by Jacob Spera who has flashed his potential this year, including his big win at the Mountain Run Invitational.

Meanwhile the Westminster boys looked strong at this past weekend's Georgetown Prep Classic, narrowly missing a victory in the unseeded race. Winters Mill senior Devon Caples should also be a frontrunner in Thursday's race, having clocked a personal-best 16:39.92 at the Gunpowder Invitational on October 15th.
