The Northeast boys have plenty of opportunities to rack up points in the sprint events this year, with Davon Carroll in the 55 and 300 and Demontay Snowden in the 300 and 500. Carroll ran the fastest time out of any 3A runner at last week's regional meets in the 300, and his time of 35.17 has only been bested on a flat track this season by Eric Allen and Aaron Hackett.

It was a close race between state contenders at the 3A West Regionals, as South Hagerstown's Andre Turay edged Blake's Nathan Phillips by less than a tenth of a second. Turay has made headlines this winter by clocking the fastest 55 meter hurdle time of any Maryland athlete (7.33) but showed that he's more than just a hurdler by taking down Phillips, who owns the second-fastest time by a 3A athlete this winter. Carroll, Phillips and Turay have now all run sub-36 on a flat track this winter and it will likely take a 35.50 or better to walk away a state champion on Tuesday.
