Upon his arrival to Duncanville, Clayton Brookins promised to bring home a UIL 6A team state title to the program.
In his third season, he has yet to accomplish that feat, but it isn't due to a lack of trying. We have seen the Duncanville girls win two consecutive UIL 6A girls state titles, and despite the lack of titles for the boys, we have also seen success there as well.
Brookins' boys have returned to Duncanville from Austin with back-to-back-to-back runner-up finishes. While technically coming up short, they have managed to be one of the most consistently talented teams in the best state for track and field.
We talked to Brookins just days after the 2024 UIL Track and Field State Championships.
