Girls 4x800:
From the get-go, Eleanor Roosevelt led the race. The Lady Raiders dominated the race, winning in a ridiculous and record-setting time of 9:13.5. Next through the chute were the Whitman Girls, running another spectacular time of 9:33.
Boys 4x800:
This 3200m relay was juicy until the last 150 meters. From the 5th lap, Quince Orchard and Eleanor Roosevelt stuck right with each other. Going into the last leg, QO's 3rd man put in a ferocious kick to give his team the lead. QO held onto the lead for the next three laps, but was overtaken by a great kick from ER's anchor leg. Churchill took the bronze in 8:20.02.
The approximate splits for the top 2 teams were as follows:
ER: 2:02, 2:03, 2:05, 2:02: 8:12.9
QO: 2:02, 2:04, 2:03, 2:05: 8:15.4
Girls 300m:
Robyn Chapman of Douglass took the lead in the first straightaway and never let go. Chapman churned to a blazing 39.90, closely followed by Sommerville of Western in 40.34. Michaylin Golladay rounded out the podium with a 40.71.
Boys 300m:
The race began in picture perfect fashion, with the runners remaining almost the same distance from each other for the first 150m. Around the back straight, Matthews of Arundel and Boyd of Westlake started to make their moves. Coming around the final curve, Corryl Boyd let his speed loose. He ended up finishing close to 10 meters ahead of the field in 35.38. Marcus Wyche of Paint Branch took home the silver out of the slow heat, running 35.52.
Girls 1600m:
Setting the pace from the beginning was Roosevelt's Dominique Lockhart, who took home the gold in 5:10. Halsey Sinclair stayed close to Lockhart, falling off of her shoulder in the last two laps. She took home the silver in 5:18. Tekisha Rivers of Roosevelt held off three kickers to take the bronze in 5:18.

Boys 1600m:
The race did not go out in record setting pace as most may have anticipated, rather the big guns set it up to be a kickers race. The leaders went through the 400 in 68 and the 800 in 2:17. Matt Llano battled up front with Ryan Janes for the first four laps, with Janes fading off of Llano's shoulder in the third quarter. Llano led the race for the first 6 laps, with teammate Centrowitz taking over with two to go. Centrowitz BLAZED a 60 second final quarter, triumphing over the field in 4:24.72 and making the race seem a lot closer than it really was. Matt Llano, in strong hold of second for the last two laps, was suddenly challenged by Elias Tousley of BCC. He held off Tousley's kick, silver medalling in 4:27.22. Tousley took the bronze in 4:27.49.

Boys 55m Hurdles
After a great start in the blocks, Stefan Grundman of Whitman found himself in the lead. However, after an extra step on the second to last hurdle, Camal Pugh of Oxon Hill took home the gold in. Legonn Haskins of Douglass gave Pugh a late charge at the end, but Pugh came away with the win in 7.64. Haskins ran 7.70 for the silver.
Girls 55m Dash
An odd mishap occurred before the actual race, when Canty of Flowers and Lewis of Western both jumped the gun. For a short time, it appeared both were disqualified, but it was determined that Canty flinched first, causing her to be DQ'ed but allowing Lewis back into the competition. Then, on the second try, the gun did not go off. On the third try, an unfazed Lewis won a close race in 7.16. Golladay of Largo took second in 7.17.
Boys 55m Dash:
The race was extremely close, with virtually no separation between the competitors. However, Justin Murdock of Bowie led from the start, barely ahead of Andrian Arthur of Bowie, who took home the silver. Murdock ran 6.46 to Arthur's 6.50.
Girls 55m Hurdles:
Theresa Lewis of Western made the hurdles look like a speck of sand as she jumped over each with ease. Lewis captured the gold, triumphing in 8.01. Teammate Tashana Johnson took the silver in 8.36.
Girls 500m Run:
The fast heat of the girls race saw Tameka Jameson of Roosevelt take the lead from the beginning. By the start of the first curve, she was already ahead of the field. Sommerville of Western started on her shoulder, but started to fall off on the second curve. With 200 meters to go, Jameson had already solidified her victory in 1:14.53. Strong finishes from Leslie Morrison of Whitman (1:17.39) and Christine Mason (1:17.68) of Meade allowed them to pass Sommerville and into the silver and bronze spots, respectively.
Boys 500m Run:
A truly exiting race!! Tyler of Douglass came out lane 4 to take the lead on the first curve. He set a fast pace, still leading at the 300m with a hand-time split of 37.3. Just as everyone in the crowd thought he would run away with the title, Marcus Dickerson of Flowers and Kelli Thibou of Roosevelt started to kick. Coming around the last curve, the crowd started "wooping"…and all of the eyes in the PG Complex were focused on those 3 runners. The three barreled into the last straight, with Dickerson out in lane four, his arms pumping with every ounce of strength he had left. With 20 meters left, Dickerson edged past Tyler, with Thibou right behind. Just before the line, Tyler tripped from exhaustion, allowing Dickerson (from lane 6) to take home the gold. Thibou was right behind, and Tyler managed to take home the bronze. Dickereson ran 1:05.67, Thibou ran 1:05.76, and Tyler ran 1:05.85.
Girls 3200m:
The top 2 positions remained virtually unchanged throughout the whole race, with Marika Walker of Roosevelt winning in 11:14, followed by Anya Oleynik of Quince Orchard in 11:21. Liya Kasimova of Severna Park took the bronze in 11:28.

Boys 3200m:
From the start, Parker of Woodlawn and Gelagle of ER had their sights set on each other. Through the first mile, Parker, Gelagle, Palmer of Whitman, and Gaffney of Blake all ran 4:50. Parker and Gelagle pulled away in the final 800, with Parker leading Gelagle by a hair through the last 4 laps. On the final lap, Gelagle couldn't have been closer to Parker's shoulder. Parker led coming into the last straight, but in the final 5 meters, Gelagle pulled ahead by three hundredths of a second to win in 9:35.16. Parker ran 9:32.19. Gelagle's time was only one hundredth of a second off of Andrew Jesien's 9:32.15 last year. Gaffney came in third, and Palmer followed in 4th.

Girls 4x200:
Eleanor Roosevelt crept up to the top of the pack by the backstretch of the third leg, and won triumphantly in 1:43.64. They were followed by Western in 1:43.97 and CH Flowers in 1:47.22.
Boys 4x200:
Coming into the last leg, Oxon Hill and Bowie were neck and neck. OH led on the backstretch, and looked to take the race. However, on the last curve, Bowie began to pull closer to Oxon Hill. Moving into lane 5, Bowie overtook Oxon Hill in the last 25 meters to win in 1:32.22, tying the 3A state record.
Girls 800m:
Tasha Stanley of Roosevelt took the lead right out of the gate, coasting to a win in 2:20.64. Morgane Gay of Whitman and Tunisa Miller of ER battled hard for the silver, with Gay getting the silver in 2:22.25 and Miller taking the bronze in 2:22.40.

Boys 800m:
The race was led by Kelli Thibou of Roosevelt from the beginning. He posted splits of 27, 56, 1:27, 1:57.18. Thibou's 1:57 not only the fastest by far in the state of Maryland this year, but a bonafide state record! Jerod Franklin of CH Flowers followed with another fantastic time of 1:59.35, and Matt Brinkely took third in 2 flat.
Girls 4x400:
For the first 3 legs, Douglass held a strong lead. However, on the backstretch of the third leg, Roosevelt was able to pull in front. They promptly opened up a 20 meter lead on the competition en route to victory in 3:57.98. Largo pulled in 2nd in 4:04.1, and Douglass retained the final medal position in 4:07.3.
Boys 4x400:
Richard Montgomery took the lead heading into the third leg, with Oxon Hill and Woodlawn close behind. They opened up a lead of 20 meters, with Woodlawn opening up to a strong second. Oxon Hill caught Woodlawn by the skin of their teeth, obtaining the silver medal with a time of 3:28.37 to 3:28.38. RM won in 3:27.65.
Boys High Jump:
How much higher do you set the bar after 6' 8"?? This was the question in observer's mind's as Oxon Hill's Aaron Johnson cleared 6 feet, 8 inches to garner some roaring applause from the Complex crowd. The bar was then set at 6' 9". After two failed attempts, and in front of a clapping crowd, Johnson cleared the height, setting the 4A state record. Darick Harris was the runner up, jumping 6' 6".
Boys Shotput:
Matt Miller of Richard Montgomery threw victoriously in the boys shotput with a throw of 51' 10.25". Bobby Dugan silver medaled with a throw of 49-09.25. Robert Moore took third by throwing 48 feet 11 inches.
Boys Pole Vault:
Casey Rudd of Chesapeake and Sam Wilson of South River both jumped 12 feet, but Rudd took home the gold. David Cross of Arundel took third in 11' 6".
Girls High Jump:
Three girls jumped 5' 2", but Audrey Gariepy of Winston Churchill was able to come home with the gold. Kamilah Bossett of Largo and Cynthia Windesheim of North County tied for second, also jumping 5' 2"
Girls Shotput:
Joanne Coley of Largo and Jocelyn Wheeler took two spots on the podium, with Coley winning in 37' 8" and Wheeler bronze-medalling in 36' 11.5". Jocelyn Martin of Northwestern won silver in 37' 2".
Girls Pole Vault:
3 competitors scored in the girls pole vault…with Jessica Stadler of Perry Hall winning in 8' 10". Jessica Nazarenius took 3rd in 8' 4", and Kristina Harris of Chesapeake took 3rd in 7' 10".
The Team Champions!
Once again, the Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders are the champions of 3A/4A Boys and Girls Indoor Track. On the girls side, Whitman and Churchill tied for 5th with 24, Douglass got 4th with 26, Western got 3rd with 53, Largo got 2nd with 62,and the Lady Raiders triumphed with 89 points.
On the boys side, CH Flowers got 5th with 25, Bowie 4th with 26, Richard Montgomery 3rd with 32, Oxon Hill 2nd with 41, and Eleanor Roosevelt won with 45 points.
