With defending state champion Alexus Pyles not making it to the state meet in the 55 hurdles, the odds certainly move more into the favor of DuVal senior Madeleine Akobundu of becoming a double state champion in both straightaway races with her top entry times of 7.15 in the 55 meter dash and 8.23 in the 55 meter hurdles. She could have been a triple state champion if Maryland contested the long jump at the indoor state meet as well.
