Boys One Mile Run
Dalton Hengst went for broke and was racing for the national title on the final lap of the seeded section for the championship boys mile on Sunday. In a crowd of mainly seniors, the McDonogh School sophomore felt just short of that goal and All-American honors in 7th place overall, but finished with an incredible PR time of 4:11.42 despite being tripped strides before the line by another runner collapsing before the finish. Boys Two Mile Run
Richard Montgomery junior Rohann Asfaw had an incredible breakthrough run in the emerging elite two mile on Saturday morning at the New Balance Nationals to win in a time 9:11.08, which ranks among the top 5 in Maryland history over the last 15 years indoors. Good Counsel's Jack Wavering at 9:13 and Northern-Calvert's Matt Bennett at 9:25 also ran big PR's to see the state's fastest three times of the season to be found at New Balance Nationals in the two mile.
