The River Hill boys are the only team in the state with a current state-championship streak (2014 and 2015). After a slow start to the season they are starting to heat up at just the right time. Coming off of a convincing win at the Howard County Championships they rolled back to Centennial High School for the 3A East Regionals with similar success. Senior Rahul Reddy led the way again, winning his second race in a row. With three of the top four and six runners in the top 15 the Hawks had no problem capturing their third straight regional title with a mere 29 points.

The Reservoir duo of Kai Muniz (fifth) and William Christian (eighth) led the Gators to a second-place finish, ahead of the Mount Hebron boys who were missing their second runner from the Howard County Championships. Centennial, Atholton, Glenelg and Northeast also qualified for the state meet. Wilde Lake's Jonathan Sussman was the lone individual qualifier.

The River Hill girls were equally as dominant. Junior Jasmine Tiamfook turned in a near repeat performance of the Howard County Championships, this time putting a little more distance between herself and runner up Emily Beyer. The girls also put six girls in the top fifteen en route to scoring a mere 34 points (38 less than the defending state champions from Centennial). River Hill will be gunning for four different state titles next week at Hereford.

The Centennial girls rode their strong top trio of Kara Taylor, Alison Betler and Cora Blount to a second-place finish just ahead of Beyer and the Mount Hebron girls. Glenelg, Reservoir and Atholton rounded out the list of state qualifying teams, while Wilde Lake's Adriana Rosas also qualified individually.
