Riverdale Baptist senior Stephanie Davis, one of the top female sprinters in the state entering 2017, has verbally committed to her future college destination. In a public tweet on Tuesday, Davis announced that she will continue her track and field career at the University of South Carolina.

As a junior Davis led all Maryland girls last season with her 23.68 FAT 200, which she ran in early July at the USATF Region 3 Championship. She competed in both the Championship 100 and 200 at last year's New Balance Outdoor Nationals and the Championship 55 at New Balance Indoor Nationals. Davis is also not just a sprinter - she jumped a personal 18'7.25 at New Balance Indoor Nationals as well, finishing second in the Emerging Elite Long Jump.

Last year she was almost unbeatable in the 100 and 200 meters, winning the MISAL Championships in both events. She also picked up wins at sprinter-heavy invitationals last spring such as the Central Invitational, Bullis Bulldog Invitational, Riverdale Baptist Invitational, Mullins Russell Track and Field Classic and the Victor Cahoon Track Classic.

Davis began her high school career at Col. Zadok Magruder High School. As a freshman she won the 100, 200, 4x100 and 4x200 at the outdoor state championships, leading the Colonels to a team title. She won her fifth state championship in the outdoor 200 as a sophomore before transferring to Riverdale Baptist before her junior year.
