Gary Ross And The Oxon Hill Boys Dominant Again

The Oxon Hill boys entered Saturday holding US #1 times in both the SMR and the 4x800, and Saturday's Hispanic Games gave them a chance to show the rest of the Mid-Atlantic how good they truly are. They lowered their top SMR time with a dominant performance, anchored by senior Gary Ross - who won the Outstanding Athlete Of The Meet Award.
It was well-deserved, too. Besides anchoring the #1 SMR in the United States he also finished second in the 800 with a MD #1 and indoor personal best 1:56.74. Ross' senior teammate Aaron Robinson also turned in a second-place finish in the 400 at 49.15, the second-fastest time in Maryland this season behind Bullis' Eric Allen. Both Ross and Robinson then teamed up again to grab the win in the 4x400, falling just a few tenths of a second short of a US #1 at 3:22.34.
Not only do they have the top mid-distance duo in the state, the Clippers have an outstanding trio of hurdlers. Zackary Sampson (7.74), Daniel George (7.76) and Caleb Jordan (7.93) all finished in the top five in the 55 meter hurdle finals, giving them three boys who now rank in the top ten in the hurdles in Maryland's 3A classification. That's big for an Oxon Hill team looking to defend their 2016 indoor state title.
