Five Meet Records That Could Fall At Saturday's Montgomery Invitational

Girls Invitational Mile

Watch Jackson and Coffin battle at last year's Montgomery Invitational en route to a meet record!

This year's girls invitational mile features one of the most loaded fields the Montgomery Invitational has ever seen. The big headline will be the rematch between Patuxent's Hayley Jackson and Annapolis' Maria Coffin; Jackson won and set the meet record of 4:59.28 last January. The race will feature three of Maryland's four Foot Locker National qualifiers from this fall (Jackson, Coffin and Walter Johnson's Abigail Green), two of whom are making their 2016-17 indoor debuts.

They will also have some out-of-state competition with Brentsville's Lydia Goetz, who owns 1600 personal best of 4:58.84. The race could also affect the 1600 sections; last year's winner ran 5:20.99 and the meet record is 5:14.98. While the invitational mile sometimes becomes a waiting game between the top runners, there is usually no holding back in the 1600. A field that features Anna Coffin, Kamryn Eveleth, Jessica Rogers and more out-of-state names could very well take down the meet record of 5:14.98.
