With four teams having already gone under 10 minutes on the season, this race has the making of a very deep and competitive one. The Damascus girls are still the only team to go sub-9:50 on the season, having run 9:37.16 at the Virginia Tech High School Invitational. They also didn't run their full 'A' team at the 3A West Regionals, settling for third place to let some of their runners qualify in other events. If they bring out the big guns for the state meet next week, they definitely have a shot at breaking the current 3A meet record.
