1A Girls 55/300
Both the 1A girls 55 and 300 meter dashes feature the same rematch between Smithsburg's Lauryn Daniels and Surrattsville's Rakiya Taylor. Daniels won both events last year as a junior, and Taylor finished second in both. The two girls have yet to race this season, but Daniels won both the 55 and 300 at the 1A West Regionals while Taylor won the 300 and was second in the 55 at the 1A East Regionals. She was only bested by her teammate Khaalea Collins, who also finished a close third in the event at last year's state championships. The three girls finished separated by three hundredths of a second setting up one of the best rematches at this year's meet.
