Strickland ranks sixth among freshmen this season in the 500; she ran her personal best in a third-place effort at the 2A West Regionals at Hagerstown Community College. She also ranks sixth among 2A runners in the event this season, and the top-ranked Hayley Jackson won't be running the 500 at the state championships. Even if she doesn't upset the field to take home the title in the 500 she could win a medal on the 4x8 as Catoctin's relay currently ranks second in the classification.
