The junior capped off his breakout season with a state title double in the 1600 and 800. While his 1:53.80 was not a personal best, it was good enough to take down the previous 2A state meet record of 1:54.40. McDermott and Franklin's Nyjari McNeil were the only underclassmen to establish new state meet records this year.
