Updating State Championship Meet Outlooks: Girls

2A Girls

Another 1-2 performance from Jasmine Tiamfook and Faith Meininger at the state meet would go a long way for the River Hill girls as they try to knock off the two-time defending state champions from Hereford. (Photo by Melissa Rose)

This year's top ten at the 2A state meet will look much different than last year when the top ten included six seniors. Reclassification this year brings a bunch of new faces to the scene. One of those newcomers,  Nandini Satsangi, already has two victories this season (Brunswick and DCXC invitationals) and multiple other top-ten finishes at big meets. Fellow 3A defectors Jasmine Tiamfook and Faith Meininger recently went 1-2 at the Howard County Championships and could give River Hill two potential low scorers at the state meet. Emily Konkus and Molly Connelly are the only two girls on this list who finished in the top ten at the 2A state meet in 2016.

This year's 2A girls team battle features a matchup of heavyweights in Hereford and River Hill. The Hereford girls have run well on their home course, winning back-to-back 2A state titles. The River Hill girls, meanwhile, are coming off a convincing victory at the Howard County Championships in which they had a senior and freshman go 1-2; low scorers that could help the Hawks try to unseat the Bulls on November 11th.
