With Wise's Daniel Whitfield not in the picture for the 4A state meet, Flowers' Brandon Tunson looks like the favorite entering the meet next Tuesday. Tunson clocked a season-best 7.38 in the finals of the 4A East Regionals, and he has finished either first or second in every single 55 hurdles race - prelim or final - so far this winter.

Only three other 4A runners who advanced to the state meet have recorded season best times under eight seconds, led by Arundel's Marcus Abrams, the 4A Central regional champion. Northwest's Tray Dawkins ran the fastest time at the armory this season in his 7.94 win at the 4A West Regionals. But heading into next week's state meet it looks like the 55 meter hurdles will be Tunson's to lose.
