She's not on the list of top returners from last spring, but Masai Russell showed that she belongs in the conversation of top 200 meter runners in the state with her performance at the UK Invitational in February.

Five of the top 200 meter runners in the state have graduated, but there is still plenty of talent left on this list, headed by a pair of Bullis athletes, Ashley Seymour and Shaniya Hall. Hall and Seymour finished third and seventh, respectively, on the state's 300 leaderboard this winter. Taylor Wright won the 4A 300 meter dash this indoor season, and Tylar Colbert had the second-fastest 300 time by a public school athlete (behind only her teammate, Cameron Hinton).

Others to watch: Bullis' Leah Phillips (on this list) and Masai Russell (not) went 1-2 in the 300 this season throughout the state; Lauryn Harris, Jada Seaman and Jaida Smith all finished among the top ten in the state in the 300; Lackey's Dominique Jeffery and River Hill's Sydney Robinson both won indoor state titles in the 300; Blake's Noelani Phillips finished eighth on the state leaderboard in the 300 and qualified for the Emerging Elite event at indoor nationals.
