MD #1 Performances, 2017 vs. 2018: Girls Distance

None of the top three in this race are back this year, but it's worth re-watching anyway. Hereford's Kelly Wesolowski ran 10:56 - which would have been the second-fastest indoor time this year - and wasn't even in the picture.

That's... a lot of seniors (surprise, surprise). Abby Green is the only returner to have cracked 11 minutes in the 3200, although Severna Park's Kamryn Eveleth came close (thirteen hundredths of a second close). It will take a super-human effort from somebody this spring to top what Hayley Jackson did at last year's state meet when she broke the 2A record.

Others to watch: Walkersville's Megan Bertolette is the only sophomore (meaning freshman last year) to crack the list of top ten returners; Broadneck's Olivia Janke finished the winter with the second-fastest 3200 time in the state (11:01.36) - unfortunately, she ran it in the same race with the only girl who ran faster than her; Alyssa Tatum (Northern) and Janet Scott and Ella Gaul (Walter Johnson) both finished among the top ten in the state this season, giving both schools three girls on the list. That these two teams never go head-to-head in cross country is really a shame.
