Top runners who did not compete

Tyler Spear (Loyola-Blakefield) - 15:41 5K, MIAA champion

Mikey Singer (McDonogh) - 16:10 5K, second at MIAA Championships

Kevin Wegner (Loyola-Blakefield) - 16:29 5K, fourth at MIAA Championships

Ted Terpos (Loyola-Blakefield) - 16:31, fifth at MIAA Championships

Emily Kaplan (Georgetown Visitation) - 18:04 5K, ISL champion

Megan Wilson (Sidwell Friends) - 19:36 5K, third at ISL Championships

Had Michael Wegner competed with the Loyola-Blakefield team as a sophomore in 2012 they would have dominated the MIAA championship race (as it was, they still won the team title by four points). Wegner competed unattached at the private school state meet and won by 20 seconds, and a matchup between a full Loyola squad and the champions from Georgetown Day would have been one of the best races in meet history.

Meanwhile it was two of the top runners on the DC side absent from the girls championship race. Georgetown Visitation freshman Emily Kaplan was one of the top sophomore runners in the Mid-Atlantic in 2012, clocking an 18:04 5K at the Glory Days Invitational and turning in a dominant performance at the ISL Championships. Meanwhile, Sidwell Friends' Megan Wilson was third in the ISL race and went on to finish in the top 40 at the Foot Locker Northeast regional; Wilson did compete at the MD/DC private school state meet in 2013 - and won.
