Western Tech's Rebeka Holt is one of many girls to have run 2:11 over the past decade, but no Maryland girl has cracked that mark over that time span. (Photo by Mary Ann Magnant)
Before we get rolling this outdoor season, now would be a good time to review the top performances from around the state over the past decade. Which athletes have opportunities to make their way onto these lists at the end of the year?

Just one girl has cleared 20 feet in the long jump over the past decade; Madeleine Akobundu, formerly of DuVal. She did it not once, not twice, but three separate times last spring as a senior en route to a state title. She also picked up many invitational victories along the way, like at the Virginia Tech High School Invitational. Will any girls take the leap and join Akobundu in this elite category this spring?

Catholic's Ellie Gonzalez still holds the top outdoor 1600 over the past decade but her days atop this leaderboard may be numbered. Not only will 4:45 indoor miler Hayley Jackson be shooting for a sub-4:40 this spring, but both Maria Coffin and Abigail Green went under five minutes this winter and could challenge 4:50 by the season's end.
