5 Reasons To Watch 3A Boys Indoor State Championships

The Battle of the "O's": The relays at the 3A State Championships might decide who wins the team title, and from the regional meet results it's shaping up to be a two-team battle who share a common first letter: Oakdale and Oxon Hill. The Oakdale boys won the 3A West Regional Championships in large part due to their success in the relays: first in the 4x400 and 4x800 and second in the 4x200. Their 8:22.89 and 3:33.70 led all teams in the three regions. However, Oxon Hill leads the 3A boys indoor rankings in the 4x800 with their 8:14.73 performance at the PG County Championships. Oakdale's 8:22 at the 3A West Regional Championships was a 15-second season PR, and it may take another big PR to defeat Oxon Hill. The 3A boys 4x400 should be a fantastic race between Oxon Hill and Oakdale, who have both run 3:27 in the event.

Both teams should also finish high in the 4x200 at the state championships, but Blake defeated Oakdale at the 3A West Regionals. Oxon Hill leads the 3A indoor rankings at 1:31.70,  while Oakdale sits behind Glenelg and Blake. That slight difference could be critical in deciding the team champion, as no one team stands out in contention for the title.
