5 Reasons To Watch 3A Boys Indoor State Championships

Robert Miller's Medal Count vs. Casimir Tawiah's Perfect Season: Since he burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2013, Robert Miller has been one of the best all-around athletes in the state. He has six state championships in the sprints and hurdles, and seven more second-place finishes. Unfortunately he was disqualified in the 300 at the 3A Central Regional Championships, which means that his best chance to earn another state title will be in the 55 hurdles. He's only lost once in the hurdles this season, when he finished second to Shyheim Wright at the Montgomery Invitational. However, Miller has some new competition this year.

Great Mills moved down to the 3A classification this year, and that sets up a state meet showdown with Casimir Tawiah in the 55 hurdles. Tawiah has been just as impressive as (if not more than) Miller this season. Last year's outdoor state champion in the 4A 110 hurdles has won every finals round of the 55 hurdles he's raced in this season, and his season PR of 7.48 is slightly faster than Miller's, 7.57. And don't count out William Henderson who finished a very close second to Miller at the 3A Central Regional Championships. One thing Miller does have going for him is the fact that both Tawiah and Henderson are also competing in the 55 dash, meaning that Miller might have the fresher legs in the finals. Will Miller add to his medal collection? Or will Tawiah end his undefeated season with a state championship? Either way, this event is not one you're going to want to miss.
