Most of the top teams from 2016 will be back in 3A North in 2017 - out of the four teams leaving, only North Harford sent teams to the state meet. Three schools will enter the region in 2017, including two (Bel Air and Parkville) returning after a brief two-year stint in 4A North. Bel Air will shake things up at the top of the region on both the boys' and girls' sides. Defending 4A North champion Kieran McDermott will be the overwhelming favorite entering the season especially considering the top four finishers from last year's 3A North meet were seniors; the team could also compete for the regional title. On the girls' side sophomore Rebekah Cross - coming off a top 30 finish at the 4A state meet last season - leads a group that will also fight for a state spot in 2017.
