After spending her freshman season as an 800-meter specialist, Hargrett expanded her range to include the 1600. It certainly paid off, seeing as she came within tenths of a second of a 3A state title in the event. For Hargrett the 5:05.57 effort was also a seven-second personal best, and the second-fastest 1600 by a sophomore girl this season behind only Samantha Facius.
