2A Girls

The preseason trio coming down from the 3A classification of Nandini Satsangi, Jasmine Tiamfook and Heather Delaplaine have all looked strong so far in 2017. Satsangi has been especially impressive in her junior season, racking up wins at the Brunswick and DCXC invitationals and a top ten finish at Oatlands. Bot Tiamfook and Delaplaine currently rank among the top seven on the 2A leaderboard in what is a very crowded field so far.

Joining the upperclassmen newcomers on the leaderboard so far are three underclassmen, including two freshmen. River Hill's Faith Meininger and Winters Mills' Makenzie Hopkins have both run under 20 minutes so far this fall and rank first and second, respectively, out of all freshmen in the state so far. After an epic 2016-17 year in 2A dominated by an historic group of senior girls, it may be this new group of freshmen and sophomores who stand out in what can be a very loaded 2A state race this November.
