4A Boys
Take a good look, because the top ten at this past weekend's Montgomery County Championships could look a lot like the top ten at the 4A state meet. (Photo by Eric Green)

The boys race at the Montgomery County Championships basically served as a 4A state meet preview, with five boys (led by Richard Montgomery's Mark Unger) finishing between 15:34 and 15:43. B-CC's Adam Nakasaka is also the only senior in the top six and one of only two in the top ten, meaning that next year's race could potentially be even better at the state meet. Outside of Montgomery County, Severna Park's Garrison Clark and Howard's Nick Deamer met at the Frank Keyser Invitational and ran 15:03 and 15:06 for three miles, respectively. Realistically there are probably at least six or seven guys with a chance at pulling out a victory at the state meet, making it the must-watch race at Hereford on November 11th.

Once again, Severna Park and Dulaney look like the top two teams heading into the 4A state meet. The Falcons will certainly be out for revenge after falling to Dulaney by just one point last fall. Beyond the two heavyweights, a slew of Montgomery County teams will be fighting for spots in the top five, as five teams finished within 26 points of each other at Saturday's championship meet. The Howard boys suffer a bit in the rankings from having not run a fast 5K race this year but could also be in the mix for a top five spot.
