300 Meter Dash
South Carroll's Allison Zolkiewicz has been nearly unbeatable this season. Between the 300, 500 and 800, she has lost exactly one race over the course of the entire winter. She will be shooting for the state title in all three next Monday. (Photo by Craig Amoss)
Athlete | Season Best | Regional Performance |
Sydney Robinson, River Hill | 41.08 (HoCo Champs) | 41.83 (1st, 2AE) |
Allison Zolkiewicz, South Carroll | 41.77 (2A West Regionals) | 41.77 (1st, 2AW) |
Autumn Parson, Walkersville | 42.07 (2A West Regionals) | 42.07 (2nd, 2AW) |
Le'Anna Thomas, Westlake | 42.45 (SMAC Champs) | 42.65 (3rd, 2AE) |
Emily Lewis, North Caroline | 42.50 (2A East Regionals) | 42.50 (2nd, 2AE) |
The 300 meter dash is shaping up to be a three-person showdown between some of the most versatile athletes in the state. Sydney Robinson leads all 2A girls in the 300 this winter and is coming off her first win in the event since mid-December.
South Carroll's Allison Zolkiewicz will also be shooting for three different state titles on Monday in the mid-distance events (300, 500 and 800). She has gone undefeated in both the 300 and 500 this season, and has only lost once in the 800. For all of her career success (four individual state runners-up and four relay state titles), she is still searching for the first individual state title of her career.
Zolkiewicz has twice beaten Walkersville's Autumn Parson in the 300 this season, with the second meeting at the 2A West Regionals being decided by just 0.4 seconds. The rest of the contenders have run between 42.50 and 43.50 seconds, but it will likely take a sub-42 performance to challenge the top three at the state meet.
