Brit Lang (pictured far left) ran a season best 5K time of 18:31 for the fastest girls time of the weekend by the Oakland Mills senior at the adidas XC Challenge with her 8th place run in Cary, North Carolina.
Beyond the Blazers Invitational at Utica Park in Frederick and the Prince George's County Invitational at Fort Washington Park, this weekend's theme is to leave Maryland and go find new competition elsewhere. Especially travel South with a large contingent of Maryland individuals and teams heading to the Oatlands Invitational in Virginia as well as another smaller but talented group heading down to the NXN Southeast Regional course in Cary, North Carolina for the adidas XC Challenge.
MileSplit will be on-site with our main coverage at Oatlands this weekend, but will have contributors with photo and video coverage at both the Blazers Invite and adidas XC Challenge.

- Oatlands Invitational (VA) - Walt Whitman girls pulled off a big win in taking the varsity A race title at Oatlands led by a top 10 finish from Sami King and strong run by Olivia Woods in their #2 runer spot. MD #2 Severna Park boys suffer their first loss of the season finishing third behind Mount Tabor of North Carolina and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia despite a 7th place finish from Joshua Tucker and 12th place from Andrew Forsyth. Good Counsel had two of the top Maryland individual finishers with Jack Wavering taking third in the boys race with a time of 15:59 and Claudia Wendt finishing fourth in the girls race with a time of 19:02. Richard Montgomery's Rohann Asfaw in fourth at 16:02 and Walter Johnson's Abbey Green in fifth at 19:08 were the next best Maryland performers. The Northwest boys won the varsity B race behind individual race champ Branson Oduor in 17:05, while Richard Montgomery's Sophie El-Masry won the varsity B girls race in a time of 20 minutes to lead her team to victory as well. - Blazers Invitational - River Hill makes it a clean sweep of titles at Utica Park repeating as team champs in dominant style, while Trent Rose in 15:49 and Jasmine Tiamfook in 18:58 both run 5K PR's in their individual wins. Tiamfook wins in a close race with Liberty's Heidi Rinehart (2nd, 18:58) and Gov. Thomas Johnson's Abby Pinto (3rd, 19:00), while Rose was 17 seconds ahead of race runner-up Nick Tilson (16:06) from Liberty. (Photos/Videos)
- adidas XC Challenge (NC) - Brit Lang of Oakland Mills was Maryland's fastest girls performer of the day running a season best 5K time of 18:31 for 8th place in a competitive seeded race. The Bethesda-Chevy Chase girls coming off their win this past week in a dual against Walter Johnson finished 7th out of 33 teams with 4 runners in the 19 minute range led by Michaela Peterson in 22nd place at 19:01. Quince Orchard senior Liam Walsh was Maryland's fastest boys performer of the day taking 29th place in the seeded race in a time of 16:03. Just ahead of familiar Montgomery County rival Dylan Kannapell of Bethesda-Chevy Chase in 34th place at 16:06. Kannappell's B-CC squad was Maryland's highest finishing team in 10th place followed by Winston Churchill (17th) and Quince Orchard (20th). (Photos/Videos)
- Prince George's County Invitational - Westlake sophomore Jay Hall won the boys race by 7 seconds over Oxon Hill's Adel Akalu in a time of 17:11 at Fort Washington Park for the 2015 Prince George's County XC Invitational. The Eleanor Roosevelt boys and Bowie girls were team winners for county bragging rights for this month. The Bowie girls were led by race champion and senior Felicia Haidara in a winning time of 22:04.
