With 3-time defending Ty Franks of Bohemia Manor likely out of the state meet since he's been out virtually out the entire season due to injury, it looks to be Smithsburg junior Will Merritt's opportunity to seize his first state title. Merritt has been on a tear as of late dating back to win at the Frank Keyser Invite's small school race over Liberty's Nick Tilson then defeating South Hagerstown's Darren Harman for the Washington County title.
