WATCH TACO BELL CLASSIC LIVE
An elite group of Maryland athletes will be headed down to Columbia, South Carolina later this week to compete at the Taco Bell Classic. And you don't need to leave home to watch them as you can watch them compete from home here in Maryland since the Taco Bell Classic will be streamed LIVE on MileSplit.com.
The entry list includes relays and athletes from the Bullis School, Elizabeth Seton, Frederick Douglass-PG, and Riverdale Baptist. The girls 4x100 meter relay could be a thrilling showdown between Maryland's best among the top seeds in Bullis School, Elizabeth Seton, and Riverdale Baptist. Interestingly enough, Bullis is not entering a girls 4x400 meter relay, which they are one of the nation's fastest in so the focus must be the 4x100 for them this weekend.
Riverdale Baptist's Stephanie Davis, current state leader in the girls 200 meter dash, is slated to race individually in the 200 as well. She will be looking to lower her 24.63 season best against a strong field of girls eyeing times in the 23 to 24 second range. Teammate Taylor Woods, another Maryland #1 ranked athlete on the Riverdale Baptist squad, will be competing in the 100 meter dash and long jump as her 19'7" personal best puts right in contention for the win in the long jump.
Nina Crawford will be one of Elizabeth Seton's top individual athletes to watch in the meet as she looks to record season best performances against top competition in the 400 meter dash, high jump, and long jump. Crawford has run in the 56 second range for the open 400 and cleared 5'5" in the high jump, while reached 19 feet in the long jump.
The Frederick Douglass-PG tandem Kollin Smith and Devin Butler will star in the boys jumps, while also making the trip with them is state champion thrower Seasons Usual. Usual will be a top contender as a top three seed in both the discus and shot put, while Smith and Butler hope to benefit from warmer weather to pop big marks in the long jump and triple jump. Smith will also be in the 110 meter hurdles.
Both Eric Allen Jr. of Bullis School and Jonathan Simmons of Riverdale Baptist hope to make the finals and see how much further they can go under 11 seconds in the 100 meter dash at the Taco Bell Classic. Allen Jr. will also be in the 110 meter hurdles, which he is coming off a victory in at the Screaming Eagles Invitational.
The live stream for the 2016 Taco Bell Classic begins on Friday at 5:45 PM with the first running event and last through the end of the competition at approximately 8 PM on Saturday.
