Summer Training Blog: Nick Tilson (Entry #2)

Entry #1 July 25-31

Monday, July 25:

This was my first day down at the beach so I tried to find some places I could get some good runs in. I found a park with a few different loops and did five miles at around 6:30 pace.

Tuesday, July 26:

I went for a night run after going surfing. Being pretty tired from surfing, I only did 3.5 miles at 6:00 pace.

Wednesday, July 27:

The weather was terrible and I didn't have much time to go for a run, so I decided to do a mile time trial. I was feeling about 90% and I ran 4:52.

Thursday, July 28:

Due to bad weather again, I didn't get a run in, so I did a core workout.

Friday, July 29:

With my mileage being pretty low this week, I went for a seven mile run around a nearby park. My pace for this run was around 7:05-7:10.

Saturday, July 30:

I treated today as a recovery run because I was pretty sore after my run on Friday, as well as hours of Spikeball on the beach. I did five miles at an easy 6:45 pace.

Sunday, July 31:

I usually take Sundays off to let my body fully recover before going into the next week of training.

So far this summer I haven't done too much mileage because I've done a lot of cross training, including swimming and many basketball workouts. I do this to keep my heart rate up and work on endurance, but not put a lot of stress on my body. I have averaged around 22-28 miles a week this summer.
