REWIND: Let's Go Back To 2007 When Matthew Centrowitz Set Maryland 2 Mile State Record (8:41)!

One of Maryland's Olympians in Rio will be 2007 Broadneck High School graduate Matthew Centrowitz as the 2016 IAAF World indoor champion looks to earn a medal on the track in the men's 1500. The first round of the 1500 starts next Tuesday, August 16th. Leading up to Centrowitz's opening race, MileSplit Maryland will be highlighting some of Centrowitz's top moments and races in his high school, college, and pro running career leading up to the 2016 Olympic Games.


Starting out above can watch one of his best high school performances when Centrowitz set the Maryland high school state record in the two mile at 8:41.55 while winning the 2007 Nike Outdoor Nationals against a star studded field including fellow members of the Olympic team in Evan Jager and Hassan Mead. The performance in Greensboro, North Carolina back in June of 2007 still ranks Centrowitz US #6 high school all-time in the two mile.
