Vote below for Maryland's Week #1 Girls XC Runner of the Week from the September 3rd weekend of meets to kick off the 2016 cross country season. This initial week of nominees includes Catoctin's Julien Webster, Middletown's Reilly Caldwell, C. Milton Wright's Haley Cummins, and Hereford's Kelly Wesolowski.
Webster set a new course record in her 18:18 victory at the Brunswick Invitational's challenging 3 mile course, while Caldwell improved by nearly two minutes from her time a year ago at the Seahawk Invite clocking a 18:25 peformance on South River's flat and fast 5K course. Both should have a great matchup later in the season for the Frederick County titles and could be Hayley Jackson's top threats at her attempt to 3-peat as 2A state cross country champ.
Haley Cummins is a impactful freshmen for the C. Milton Wright girls as shown with winning on her home course on Friday in a 12:08 two mile performance to lead her team to victory. Hereford's Kelly Wesolowski was a superstar as a freshmen in track and appears to be returning to that glory for her senior of cross country as she teammated with Dillon Coffey to win the Baltimore County Relays, which is a co-ed race with 2 legs alternating two 1.5 mile loops each.
Voting closes at 10 PM on Wednesday! Voting is unlimited and feel free to share with your coaches, family, friends, teammates, teachers, and more!
