This initial week of nominees includes Richard Montgomery's Rohann Asfaw, Mount St. Joseph's Hunter Petrik, Bel Air's Kieran McDermott, Westlake's Jay Hall, and Hereford's Dillon Coffey.

It did not matter the distance, Maryland boys posted fast times on the first weekend of the season at 2 miles, 3 miles, and 5K. Rohann Asfaw of Richard Montgomery repeated as Interstate Classic champ gapping 5-time 1A state champ WIll Merritt by 19 seconds with a 15:36 performance. Another great three mile performance was found at the Brunswick Invite in Westlake's Jay Hall in one of the more thrilling races of the week to outkick the Linganore pair of Micah Hewitson and Michael Belmaggio for the win in 15:53.

On Friday, Kieran McDermott of Bel Air dominated the Mustang Invitational for the second year clocking a sizzling time of 9:46 for two miles on Friday evening. 14 seconds ahead of another Maryland top 20 ranked runner in Max Barbour of Loyola-Blakefield. In Saturday morning's Baltimore County Relays at Towson High School, Dillon Coffey of Hereford teamed up with his female counterpart Kelly Wesolowski to win the co-ed 2x1.5 mile alternating relay leg race.

Lastly, Hunter Petrik of Mount St. Joseph was part of a pack of hopefuls trying to get a breakthrough win at the Seahawk Invite. He was the one ultimately that made the final move to break away for a 15:38 state leading 5K run and huge personal best time.
