The Northern-Calvert girls have established themselves as one of the top teams in the state so far, and they continued their success at Saturday's Hood College Invitational. Senior Molly Barrick set a new 5K personal best of 18:58.90 in a winning effort, and she was followed by her teammates Abby Sweeney and Claudia Dolan in second and third. Overall, they scored 44 points (the next closest team was Sherando with 77) for the team victory.
The boys race was much closer, and South River senior Niko Boogades was able to outlast the field, picking up the win and a new personal best of 16:07.10. His win was important, as he led the South River boys to a narrow team victory over Nick Tilson and the red-hot Liberty boys, 68-70.
