Check out the top 100 girls rankings in the field events (shot put, high jump, long jump, triple jump and pole vault) heading into the 2017 calendar year. Bowie's Ja'Tae Joyner and Huntingtown's Harleigh White have gone back-and-forth atop the triple jump leaderboard so far this winter. White won their first head-to-head matchup at the Howard County Winterfest, but Joyner leaped a MD #1 37'8 in her win at the Ed Bowie Invitational to pull ahead. Both girls are the only ones to have cleared 37 feet so far this year.

2A rivals Seasons Usual (Douglass-PG) and Courtney Hawkins (Lackey) faced off at the Ed Bowie Invitational where Usual won with a season-best throw of 42'7. However that was not enough to catch Urbana's Delia Sipe atop the Maryland leaderboard, where her throw of 43'1.75 back on December 9th stil leads all Maryland throwers.
