Walter Johnson senior Abbey Green earned All-American honors on Saturday at Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego, California by virtue of her 12th place finish in the championship girls race with a time of 18:03. Green was making her second appearance in the national meet after 21st place in the 2016 race.
Green used her experience gained from last year to run a very smart race to move up many spots in the final stages of the races into an All-American position. Green went from a 7th place at Foot Locker Northeast Regional two weeks ago to 12th place finish at Foot Locker Nationals as the region's #3 finisher at Balboa Park.
Another returning Foot Locker finalist from Maryland in McDonogh School senior Dalton Hengst also had All-American aspirations this weekend, but the race did not unfold as hoped. Hengst finished 15 seconds off the All-American honors cutoff with a 24th place effort of 16:08. The Ole Miss commit had finished 21st with a time of 15:37 in last year's Foot Locker Nationals.
