Bullis School senior Andre Turay certainly left Greensboro, North Carolina this past weekend with a bitter taste in his mouth and feelings of disappointment in not claiming that elusive individual national title that he was seeking. A false start and disqualification charged to Turay in the finals of the championship boys 110 meter hurdles at New Balance Nationals prevented the opportunity for that goal to be achieved.
One consolation prize though that might bring some satisfaction to Turay as well as being part of several relay victories for Bullis is breaking the Maryland state meet record in the 110 meter hurdles with a wind legal personal best clocking of 13.58 in the prelims.
Potomac's Dondre Echols had the record prior from a wind legal 13.59 performance at the 2012 Maryland State Meet, so Turay was able to just narrowly break that record and just stay wind legal with a +1.7 reading.
Turay might also have the state record for most sub 14 second performances in his career as currently have him dipping under the time on at least a dozen occasions over the last 2 years of high school at Bullis School and South Hagerstown High School.
