After mainly running the 800 as a freshman at Atholton High School in 2016, Alexandra Hargrett began to run the 1600 as well as a sophomore. She finished second at the Howard County championships before going on to win the 3A East titles in both the 1600 and 800. At states, she dropped seven seconds off her personal best and nearly won the state title; Great Mills senior Annie Imhof beat her by just five hundredths of a second. Her 5:05.57 time would stand as a high school personal best in the 1600. Hargrett now competes at the University of Maryland, where she ran 3:03.95 in the 1000 as a freshman this past indoor season.
