It's a close race for the top of the senior boys pole vault leaderboard over the past decade, and it's Glenelg's Calvin Pitney who takes the title by just one inch. Pitney wasn't a natural-born vaulter; through the end of his sophomore season his personal best in the event sat at just ten feet. He broke out as a junior during the 2014 indoor season, however, raising that mark to 13 feet and winning the first of four consecutive 3A titles in the event. He cleared his high school personal best mark of 15'9 at the 2015 Penn Relays where he finished second. Pitney then won a NCCAA national title at Cedarville (OH) University before competing at the University of Maryland, where he raised his personal best well over 16 feet.
