The 2015 Dulaney and Good Counsel boys teams can each claim to be one of Maryland's best teams of the decade, and certainly the best teams in each school's respective history. After all the Good Counsel boys finished fifth at that year's Team Nationals Southeast regional meet, just ten points behind second place and what would have been a birth to Team Nationals. Dulaney finished tenth in the same race. It was on a Saturday in late October, a month before that meet, however, that each team's true dominance burned brightest.
On their home course the Dulaney boys swept the top five spots at the county championship to easily capture their third consecutive team title. Senior Eric Walz, the eventual 4A state champion, led the way with a 15:43 performance as the Lions averaged 16:01 on their familiar grounds. That Dulaney team also featured ten of the top 12 finishers in the JV race and nine of the top 12 in the open race.
Meanwhile down across the river in Reston, VA, the Good Counsel boys were also successful in capturing their third straight victory at the WCAC Championships. Much like the Dulaney squad, Good Counsel was led by a terrific class of experienced seniors, fronted by Jack Wavering who ran away from the field in a 16:32 victory. The Falcons swept the top four spots and all six finishers placed among the top ten en route to scoring just 18 points.
