Earlier this week, the girls entries for the East Coast Cross Country Championships were released, revealing that both the Howard and Severna Park girls (along with Bel Air's Elizabeth Pickett) were accepted into the 125-person field.
On Friday the boys entries were made public, and the Severna Park boys - fresh off a sixth-place finish at the XC Town Meet of Champions last weekend in Terra Haute, Indiana - will be joining their girls team at Holmdel Park in New Jersey.
The meet will provide the Severna Park group yet another opportunity to prove themselves on a national stage as Maryland's premier boys distance program. Teams from Virginia to Rhode Island will compete for the boys title.
Maryland will also be represented by two individuals in the race: Towson senior Peter Sorensen and Calvert Hall senior Andrew Myers. Sorensen, the defending Baltimore County individual champion and last year's 3A state runner-up, brings a 15:54 5K personal best to the field. He competed at the XC Town Meet of Champions in Indiana, finishing 54th in the combined open race.
Meanwhile, Andrew Myers came on last indoor season after finishing fifth at the 2019 MIAA Championships. He clocked a 9:36 3200 at last year's indoor conference championships, finishing second behind teammate Owen Johnson, and recently topped that with a 9:32 performance on the track in late October. This weekend Myers won the Baltimore County Private School Championships, clocking a 15:20 three-mile effort.
