Aside from Bullis, no school has made more of an impact in the 500 meter dash in the brief history of the Virginia Showcase as the Blake girls have. Of the 20 girls to have run under 1:20 in the event in the meet's history, three are from Blake - no other school has more than two such representatives. Two of them, Serena Harrison (above left) and Geligne Franklin (right) did so at the second annual meet in the winter of 2018. Harrison ran 1:16 in the invitational section, finishing eighth overall as just a sophomore. Junior Geligne Franklin ran 1:18 to win the open section, and the time would stand as her high school personal best. Junior Noelani Phillips also ran under 1:20 and would come back in 2019 and run 1:17 to win the open section.
