Milesplit Maryland: Editor Update

Jabari Michael-Khensu celebrates as he captures the 100m title at the 2016 MPSSAA State Championship.

Hello everyone!

My name is Jabari Michael-Khensu and I am very excited to be serving the Maryland track and field community as the new MileSplit Maryland state editor.

To give some insight into my background, I am from Prince George's County, Maryland and a graduate of Oxon Hill High School (Class of 2016). Following high school, I attended the University of Pittsburgh where I earned a B.S. in Media and Professional Communications with a concentration in Corporate and Community Relations.

I got started in track and field my freshman year of high school and soon discovered it was the only sport I ever wanted to keep doing. While competing with Oxon Hill, I won three individual state titles and three relay state titles between indoors and outdoors. We also swept all three championship meets (counties, regionals, and states) in my senior year and are one of the few high schools to have completed this in back-to-back years (2016-2017). My last season with the Clippers, before heading off the college, was highlighted by earning All-American honors at New Balance Nationals in the SMR where we finished 4th overall and ran the second-fastest time in Maryland state history.

At the University of Pittsburgh, I completed my collegiate career as a 3x All-ACC Second team honoree, NCAA Regional Qualifier, and recorded a No. 3 all-time 200m indoor time (21.10) and No. 5 all-time 200m outdoor time (20.85) in school history. My highlight career moments at Pitt were placing second in the 4x4 at the 2018 ACC Championship and running in the 2018 Pan Am Juniors later that summer for St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I continue to run today post collegiately for St. Vincent with hopes of qualifying for the 2022 World Championships

Track and field has played a big part in shaping my life and the opportunities that I have found in it thus far. It has blessed me with a great community of friends and mentors that I cherish to this day.

In high school, MileSplit played a big role in introducing me to that community and nurturing my love for the sport as a competitor and fan. Maryland is a premier state in track and field that houses a lot of great talent. I am looking forward to being able to establish a great relationship with the Maryland track and field community and showcase all the talent we have to offer.

I can't wait to get out to a meet near you soon and if you see me out, please swing by and say hi. In the meantime, if you need something regarding the Milesplit MD site, feel free to reach out to me at
